Sasha is interested in how stressful experiences span generations – specifically, how different types and timescales of stress interact with parental physiology to influence the health, development, and life history of both parents and their kids. Sasha’s research integrates multiple approaches to broach this broad question, including DNA methylation-based measures of health and aging in the multigenerational Cebu Longitudinal Health & Nutrition Survey cohort, evolutionary mathematical models of predictive adaptive plasticity, epidemiological analyses of famine exposure during pregnancy, and germline microRNA profiling in experimental animal models of parental stress.
